Wellington Handbell Ringers
Handbells are one of the world’s oldest instruments and it is usually agreed that they originated in churches to enable tower bell ringers to practise ringing their changes somewhere warmer than the church tower.
Wellington Handbell Ringers was established in May 2023 and ring familiar tunes with melodies and harmony. Bells are not just for Christmas … we ring a wide variety of music throughout the year.
We are available to play for local social groups, W.I’s, charity events, fetes and residential homes. Please contact Catherine James at jamescatherine224@gmail.com.
Handbell ringing is good mental stimulation and great fun. Reading music is not essential. We ring from a music score that has each note highlighted in different colours.
